The sun is out, it’s a beautiful day!  Our private hire taxi is full of Game of Thrones enthusiasts and we are heading for a fully guided tour of some of the best recognised locations from the fantastic Game of Thrones.  The North Coast of Northern Ireland is stunningly beautiful so you are sure to enjoy the journey as well as soaking up some of the most amazing sites and wildlife along the way!  Let’s see if you can recognise any of the places we will visit along the way.

We will travel the Kingsroad, North of King’s Landing which is one of the most iconic images from Game of Thrones and known locally as the Dark Hedges.  Voted one of the most beautiful places in the world, it brings back memories of a young Arya Stark fleeing Kings Landing.

The stunning Ballintoy Harbour looks like a beautiful, sleepy local fishing harbour, but it is also now known as the set for Port of Pyke on the Iron Islands.  Close your eyes and breathe in the sea air in this peaceful setting then imagine how different it was with hundreds of people from House Greyjoy at work loading and unloading their ships.

A short walk away from the Harbour, the surrounding rocky landscape was perfect for representing the Iron Islands.  It is an area of outstanding natural beauty where the power of the sea is mesmerising making it a perfect location to film Theon’s baptism to reaffirm his loyalty to his family.

When you visit the area surrounding Cushendun Caves you will be amazed at the natural landscape and the incredible range of wildlife.  On a beautiful day it can be hard to recognise the area as the Storm Lands and the location where Melisandre came ashore, but when you enter the caves it’s instantly recognisable.

We will take the opportunity to stretch your legs and walk down to the shore and go inside the cave so you can see the infamous setting for yourself.  This area was also used to represent the Baratheon homeland.

Of course our trip will take in far more locations that just these and there will be regular stops for taking plenty of selfies and pictures of the beautiful scenery!  We will pass the ancient Dunluce Castle which is home to the House of Greyjoy.

The sweeping sand dunes of Portstewart Strand are recognisable as Westeros and Murlough Bay is now also known as Slavers’ Bay.  As you drive around the area, you will be amazed at the number of locations you recognise from watching Game of Thrones.  Apart from being a relaxing day trip seeing some of the most beautiful scenery in the world, you will also feel your connections to Game of Thrones.  A truly memorable experience not to be missed!
